What We Do

We specialise in traditional British and European stonemasonry techniques that have been passed down through the centuries to ensure all our work is of the utmost quality and standard, whatever your project. Working with locally-sourced stone where possible we like to work directly with local quarries to hand-pick the stone that is perfect for each project.

Along with our stonework, we can also carry out stone maintenance,  such as cleaning, mortar repairs, stone part indenting, stone carving, re-pointing and stone sealing. Or maybe you need a condition survey, demolition of existing pieces or evening cataloguing of stone buildings and features. 

We use traditional methods and techniques wherever possible. For example, our use of lime-based products over cement. Lime works much better with stone; it allows thermal movement and the ingress and egress of water.

Who We Are

Kris and Stuart are the two highly experienced stonemasons, both from 'Bonnie Scotland' where they traditionally trained on extensive four-year apprenticeships. Their apprenticeships were both served at the internationally renowned Historic Scotland, one of the worlds flagship organisations in the conservation of built heritage. During this time, they were responsible for the conservation, maintenance and restoration of some of Scotlands most important and iconic heritage sites such as Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Palace, Caerlaverock Castle and Sweetheart Abbey to name but a few.

Locally, Kris and Stuart have been members of the arts centre stonemasonry team for a number of years. They have worked on restoring some of the arts centre's most prominent building and features, slowly restoring it to its former glory. Another one of their projects has been the iconic, Trinty Church in Christchurch's CBD. Which was an incredibly exciting, yet challenging project which included earthquake strengthening to 100 percent of the code without intrusion on the heritage fabric of the structure.
